Boot failed: please change disks...

I'm trying to run DBAN 1.0.7 off a floppy on a bunch of disks in a Compaq/HP ML570 and ML370 server. These are hot swap SCSI disks with an internal RAID array controller (Compaq Smart Array), but we're treating them as static disks. There's no way around the array controller on these boxes -- even setting them up as JBOD goes through this controller. There is no OS on either of these servers.

DBAN boots just fine. When I select an option to tell it to go to work (like Enter or F2), it prints the "Loading kernel...." line, then the "Loading initrd...." line, then it hangs with the error:

Boot failed: please change disks and press a key to continue

Pressing a key reboots into DBAN. I've tried two different floppies from two different DBAN downloads in each of the ML570 & ML370 with identical results. This is the first time I've ever tried to use DBAN, so I can't say if it works on other servers or not. A google search on that error message came up empty.

Am I doing something wrong, or does DBAN not support this type of server?
