Deleting swap file from MS-DOS

Hi,
I've studied the help file including the examples for this topic, but I am not doing it correctly, as I keep getting error messages in MS-DOS. I'd be grateful if someone could please explain exactly how to erase the swap file in MS-DOS, i.e. please could you tell me exactly what to type. I assume I am correct in rebooting the computer to MS-DOS.

Thanks very much,
Daniel

Hi Garrett,
Thanks for your reply. I've just checked, and that file is shown as an archive file, but not hidden, on my PC. Maybe the problem is related to where the instructions say to "move to" C:\Program Files\Eraser in MS-DOS. I don't know how to do this. I have simply been typing the commands at the default MS-DOS prompt. I'd be grateful if you could let me know exactly what I need to type, beginning at the default MS-DOS prompt.

Thanks very much,
Daniel

Assuming that your "eraserd.exe" is at "C:\Program Files\Eraser\", and your swap file is at "C:\win386.swp", you can simply type:
  • C:\Progra~1\Eraser\eraserd -file C:\win386.swp -passes 3
