I have been using Eraser 5.3 for some time and recently noticed that when I ticked the box in General preferences 'Enable background (slow) entropy polling' and then right clicked on a folder in Windows Explorer it causes Explorer to hang and the only way to unfreeze it is using Ctrl/Alt/Del and choose 'End now' to close Explorer. After installing Eraser 5.7 I found the problem still exists. It appears to be a bug that has been around for a few versions or perhaps one of the Windows XP service packs has led to it.
With over 2 million downloads I surely can't be the first person to notice this behaviour. I don’t know if the creators of Eraser are aware of the problem and will fix it in a future version so I tried sending an email to support but it was returned so I thought I'd post about it on the forums.
