Eraser not working recycle bin

Yes... I have searched the forms 1st.
Not working problems appear to be related to Window$ Vi$ta.
I am running Windows XP professional w/SP-3.

There are 7) options in the recycle bin from 35 pass gutman down to 1-pass Pseudorandom Data.

I have tried them all, and without fail.......They Fail.

Version 5.86.

How does a person correct this please?

The program does, indeed empty the recyle bin: but the reports all state: Failed.

I'm using version 5.82 on my desktop with only 1) option and it seems to do the job it's supposed to.

If I need to be using 5.82 on my piece of D'heLL, I can try that: if I had the URL to download it.

Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Could you post the entire log here?

Joel

Thank you for the reply, Joel!

I just emptied the C > Windows >Prefetch in Windows XP Home w/SP-3 :Failed -->
using version 5.82 only 1) option in lieu of 6-7) on the later version.

Using either option, standard Empty Recycle Bin (vs) Erase), the Recycle Bin: Erasing appears fruit-less.

Eraser functions fine if there is a semi-personal/private word doc or text file (pic even), or any file I want to shred, but the "eraser Recycle Bin" feature appers to be fubared.

I like this program: don't take me wrong.
I'd just like to get it running as it should.

Thanks Much for the reply!

I Hope this isn't a defective or out-dated program/programs (or) I have a compatibilty issue, like XP (vs) Vista.
I'll buy Vista when $ervice Pack 5 comes out on a slip-streamed disk.

What next, please? Advice/Suggestions much appreciated! :)

Better version maybe??
