I figure it just confirms that, even when you're updating an installation, you should always uninstall the previous installation first, so there's no risk of bits of uninstalled code laying around to mess up the new installation.

Yes, that is something I am always careful to do. I also usually use Ccleaner to clean the registry and also I reboot just to make sure !
