Erasing blank space

HiYall

As I'm new to this forum (and Eraser), can I request some advice Pls.

I have run the Erase Blank Space on my C drive and keep coming up with
hundreds of lines like this:-
24/02/2008 00:57:53: Failed to erase unused space on C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_wpdrapi.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_en-us_b4ef2874bea6c97e\wpdrapi.inf_loc.

Is this usual? I have the full log but didn't want to post it here as it would fill the thread.

I'm running a Tosh laptop, and Windows Vista Home Premium.

I have run Eraser from DOS and got the same results.

Any info would be good.

I believe you are running a schedule with the Erase Unused space option?

If so it is normal. These files are locked by Windows and cannot be modified.

Thank you for the information Joel I'll stop worrying. Although having run Eraser on the blank space again last night, and got even more failures, I see that most of them have a (Protected File) label.

It's normal. Protected files are subsets of locked files...
