Error Message when trying to create new task

Hello all,

I used Eraser on an old computer, and I recently moved to a different computer and I installed Eraser (Stable build; version 6.0.7.1893) today. It installed fine, and it appears to work. However when I go to Erase Schedule > New Task > Add Data, I get an error message saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately. The system cannot fin the file specified (Exception from HRESULT:0x80070002)"
I have tried fixing/uninstalling, but I cannot get it to work...any ideas on what I can do?

Mike

Computer: Lenovo T61, Windows Vista, 2GB ram

Below the error message was this: (I'm not sure if it is important or not)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

The Error code is a File not Found code returned by the .NET runtime. The error messages indicate that the code is looking for your drives but cannot find one or more of them.

Similar (but not identical) errors to this have been reported before. On those occasions, Joel (the lead developer) advised those reporting the errors to download the latest build in the 6.0 branch, and try that. To that advice, I would add the precautionary suggestions that you fully uninstall Eraser 6, delete the Task List.ersx file you find (probably) in the hidden folder C:\Users\<Your User Name>\Appdata\Local\Eraser 6, and if possible run a Registry cleaner such as the one in CCleaner before reinstalling.

Hope this helps.

David

Have you tried restarting Eraser? Or does this happen all the time?

If it does happen all the time, could you open diskmgmt.msc (Press windows key + R, type diskmgmt.msc, enter), take a screenshot and post here? The window alone is enough.
