File icons remain after erasing

I booted up Eraser and click-drag added four files from the desktop, then used the default Guttman method. After it finished, one of the files had been successfully erased and was now gone. The other three remained, but clicking on them yielded a "file not found" dialog box. A right click caused the computer to temporarily freeze up. Advice?

I've noticed that Eraser has a real problem with compressed files including compressed file icons, File icons are .ico files. I switch to East tec Eraser or tune-up's Shredder or some other Eraser that will handle compressed files.

Are you using a virtual sandbox, do you have Administrative rights for the computer. When you right click on the icon and chose propertys/general tab is read only checked
