is there a way i can set up dban on a flash drive insted of wasting a cd or using a floppy because my desktop does not have a floppy drive any more and my laptop never did
 
If you can make the flash device boot with DOS, then you can also start DBAN from it.

Follow the link to LOADLIN from the FAQ, which can start DBAN from a DOS environment.

sorry Darik - sent you an e-mail before looking here...

DBAN Works just fine from a Flash drive if you use winimage to write the dban distribution image file to the flash device.

At least it does with WinImage v 7.0.7000

sorry - the motherboard needs to support booting from usb-hdd as well for my method to work. :)
