Fixing the “OST file not opening” error usually depends on what’s causing the issue.
Start with basic troubleshooting in Microsoft Outlook. Close Outlook and end all related processes from Task Manager, then reopen it. If the issue continues, try recreating the OST file—close Outlook, go to the OST file location, delete or rename it, and reopen Outlook so it can rebuild a fresh file by syncing with the server.
If you’re on a slow connection or don’t want to resync everything, you can run the Inbox Repair Tool (Scanpst.exe) to fix minor corruption.
However, if the OST file is severely corrupted or orphaned, these methods may not work. In that case, using the BLR OST recovery tool is the best option to repair and recover your data.
