You can migrate DreamHost Email to Gmail manually by accessing the Gmail settings and adding your DreamHost account using the POP/IMAP option. Within your Gmail account, go to Settings → Accounts and Import → Check mail from other accounts and enter your DreamHost email account settings. Gmail will then gradually import messages. However, this is a very slow process, as it does not maintain your folder hierarchy, and may not import any attachments, and is not useful for bulk or selective migration. Furthermore, you cannot add filters, and you must set up for each account manually.
The manual option works for smaller mailboxes, but can be complex in the absence of technical understanding. So, if you have a larger mailbox to transfer with safety and without technical expertise, then consider the MacSonik IMAP Mail Backup Tool. This software ensures you can batch migrate multiple mailboxes at the same time without a size limitation on the number of messages.
The recommended method for migrating from DreamHost to Gmail
1. Download, install and run the DreamHost Mail Backup Tool. Click Continue.
2. Select Single or Batch Mode based on the number of accounts you have and enter credentials for each account. Complete the Sign In.
3. Next, from the tree preview, select the folders you wish to store in Gmail.
4. Next, from Email Clients, select Gmail and enter your email address. Click Login.
5. When you receive a logged-in prompt, select the filters you wish from the software and click Start Process to begin migrating.
