How long to wipe unused space

How long does it take to wipe say 15GB of unused space on a 60GB HD. Only I don't want to leave my laptop running overnight if poss..

That's impossible to answer unless you tell us what wiping method you are planning on using. Are you using a built-in one or a custom one?

Ideally I'd like to know for each of the standard ones, but in particular the Gutman 35, US DoD 7 & Pseudorandom Data 1.
