To back up an OST (Offline Storage Table) file in Microsoft Outlook, there are several methods you can use, both manual and automated. Here’s a detailed guide on how to perform this task effectively:
Note: OST files are used to store data for accounts configured in Exchange, IMAP, or Outlook.com. While you can back up the OST file, it’s recommended to use the PST export method for more reliable backups. This is because OST files are tied to your server and may not function properly if moved without the corresponding email account settings.
Method 1: Manually Backing Up the OST File
- Make sure Microsoft Outlook is closed before attempting to copy the OST file.
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the following location:
C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
- Alternatively, type %localappdata%\Microsoft\Outlook into the File Explorer address bar to quickly access the folder.
