If anyone is looking for a straightforward way to move their Thunderbird data to Outlook, EdbMails provides a simple method through its
MBOX to PST Converter. Since Thunderbird uses the MBOX format and Outlook works with PST, converting the files is necessary before importing them into Outlook.
Below is the process I followed using EdbMails, in case it helps others:
Steps to Convert Thunderbird to PST with EdbMails
1. Locate Thunderbird’s MBOX files
Thunderbird stores each folder (Inbox, Sent, etc.) as an MBOX file.
You can find them via:
- Thunderbird → Help
- More Troubleshooting Information
- Open Folder (under “Profile Folder”)
Inside the
Mail or
ImapMail directory, you will see files without extensions (these are the MBOX files).
2. Install and open EdbMails MBOX to PST Converter
After installing the software, choose MBOX as the source and select Thunderbird from the list.
3. Add your Thunderbird MBOX files
Use the
Browse option to load the MBOX files you found in step 1.
The tool displays all the emails for review.
4. Start MBOX to PST Conversion
Select the folders you want and start Export operation.
You can save the PST file in any location on your system.
5. Import the PST into Outlook
Open Outlook →
File → Open & Export → Open Outlook Data File (.pst)
After importing, all Thunderbird emails appear inside Outlook.
