If you’re moving emails from Zimbra to Mozilla Thunderbird, you can’t import TGZ files directly because Thunderbird only supports MBOX format. So first, you’ll need to convert your Zimbra TGZ backups into MBOX before importing them.

Manual Way (Not Recommended for Large Data)

There’s no direct manual import from TGZ to Thunderbird. The only workaround is:

• Restore the TGZ backup to a Zimbra account
• Add that Zimbra account to Mozilla Thunderbird via IMAP
• Let Thunderbird sync all folders
