To increase Outlook mailbox size without deleting emails, you can modify the mailbox storage limit manually. Here’s how:
- Modify Registry Settings:
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\XX.0\Outlook\PST (Replace XX.0 with your Outlook version).
- Create or modify MaxLargeFileSize (for UNICODE PST) and WarnLargeFileSize.
- Set the values in MB (e.g., 100GB = 102400MB).
- Restart Outlook to apply changes.
- Use Outlook Archive Feature:
- Go to File > Options > Advanced > AutoArchive Settings.
- Configure to move old emails to an archive file, reducing main PST size.
Challenges
- Risk of PST Corruption: Expanding PST size beyond default limits may cause corruption.
- Performance Issues: Large PST files can slow down Outlook.
- Complex Registry Edits: Incorrect changes may cause system instability.
- Launch the DRS PST Splitter Tool and add the oversized PST file.
- Select Split Criteria (by size, date, sender, etc.).
- Choose Destination to save the split files.
- Click Split to create smaller PST files, maintaining data integrity.
