Opening multiple PST files without Microsoft Outlook can be challenging because PST files are designed to work only with Outlook. When Outlook is not installed or available, Windows cannot recognize or open these files on its own. This situation commonly occurs during email audits, system migrations, business continuity planning, or when accessing old email backups collected from different systems.
To handle this, a standalone PST reader with batch processing capability is required. A tool like SysInfo PST Viewer allows users to add and open multiple PST files at the same time without relying on Outlook. Once the files are loaded, each PST appears in a structured tree view showing folders such as Inbox, Sent Items, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks. This makes it easy to switch between different PST files and read mailbox content in a single interface.
Users can open emails, preview attachments, search messages using keywords or date ranges, and review mailbox items without altering the original PST files. This is especially helpful when working with large or archived PSTs collected from multiple users. If the requirement goes beyond viewing, the same utility also offers options to reuse the data and convert PST to MBOX, allowing emails to be accessed in other email clients while keeping the original folder hierarchy intact.
