I saw that version 5.7 was available and have downloaded but not executed.

I get the sense that the version only has <i>minor</i> mofifications.

in your opinion is there a great advantage to using it or is it recommended to stay with versioin 56?

It's entirely up to yourself. 5.6 essentially holds all you need.
