Manufacturers HD serial number

Is there a way to parse the manufacturer's hard drive serial number prior to running dban? I say the manufacturer's serial number since this would be different than the random one created after performing a format. I checked the log files after running DBAN and found no reference to this information.

BTW, I will add better disk identity and SMART reporting to DBAN when the next release gets a sponsor.

HD serial

This was so that I could parse this information from within Windows and then verify afterwards that both the HD serial's matched - This is so I can ensure that the HD I checked in Windows is the same one that got nuked.

HDD Serial #

I would also like to have the manufacturer's serial # in the DBAN log. We are required to keep it on hand to prove which HDD was wipe and keep all reports.
