NEWBIE HELP NEEDED

I done the basic one swipe where it adds random characters in the free space and now it shows my hard drive is full. How do i get this space back for my system to use?
 
Thank you for the link. I found a file name that was weird letters and characters that wasn't there prior to running it and it was full of smallhat totaled the amount of free space I had lost. I truely appreciate your help.!
