Powercut during HD erasing

I was erasing HD using gutmann and checked to see that it was on pass 8 (after 5.75 hours). 4 hours later there was a powercut.

Can I assume that there has been about 13 passes and that the HD has been wiped more securely than say, using DoD, or does the whole process need to be completed?

I'm no expert, but I'd say it has been securely wiped.

If you wish, do another wipe using PRNG (one pass) with verification, it will take about 2 hours at the most.

35 passes is really overkill anyway, I think the Gutmann method applied to older disks, modern disks don't need such overkill.

That said, I'm sure there are people who will disagree and say otherwise...
