PRNG Stream wipe

Hi. Is it mandatory to use seeds when using the PRNG Stream method with DBAN? I get very good performance with this method when using no seeds; it takes about an hour to do 4 rounds with a 40Gb hard drive using DMA transfers. According to DBAN menu, 8 rounds means high security level. Is this really correct?

No.

I get very good performance with this method when using no seeds;

Seeds to do not affect I/O throughput. Seeds affect the pseudo-random patterns that are written to the media.
