System Restore points in XP

After running Eraser on unused disk space, I notice that my XP System Restore points have all gone, except a new one created immediately following the run.
(a) is this usual?
(b) is it risky, if something affects the machine while it is running Eraser?
Would appreciate any views.

Usual yes.

Risky only if something does affect the machine, yes. There's nothing you can do to stop it from happening - it is Windows behaviour.
