Unused disk space can't be erased, why?

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 sp2

Eraser 5.8 said that the drive had to be elevated or something.

Eraser 6 says I don't have the right privileges to run it. I'm running it in administration mode in xp service pack 2 compatibility mode. I tried without compatibility mode also still didn't work.
 
You'll need to exit Eraser (including in the system tray) before running the new instance of Eraser as an administrator. Compatibility mode isn't required for Eraser to work.
