What do I choose here?

someone please help. I'm using DBAN 1.0.2 and am given this option in the "Disks and Partitions" screen where I have to press the space bar to select what I want to wipe:

[ ] (IDE 0,0,0,-,-) Quantum Fireball
[ ] (IDE 0,0,0,-,1) Partition


If I choose the first option I get this, with "****" in the partition section:

>[wipe] (IDE 0,0,0,-,-) Quantum Fireball
[****] (IDE 0,0,0,-,1) Partition



If I choose the second option I get this, with "----" in the Quantum Fireball section:

[----] (IDE 0,0,0,-,-) Quantum Fireball
>[wipe] (IDE 0,0,0,-,1) Partition


...what do "****" and "----" mean and which option should I choose??
I basically want to wipe the whole hard drive clean, partitions, files...everything.
Can anyone please shed some light?

The [****] means that the partition will be wiped because its parent disk will be wiped. You probably want to choose this option.

You cannot wipe a disk when you are wiping partitions within it, which is indicated by the [-----].
