Wiped laptop, memory no longer recognized?

Hi,

I wiped my Compaq Armada E500's main partition using the PRNG, 10 passes. Reinstalled Windows XP Pro, now it only recognizes 64 MB of RAM, when I have 256 installed. Any idea why this may have happened??? Aaaarrghhhh

shouldnt i see problems with my OS keeping time, and changes made to the BIOS not being saved (if the CMOS battery has failed)?
