I am on a computer as a "normal" user WITHOUT admin rights.
So e.g. I cannot create context menu entries for "Erase unused space".
I can however start Eraser by doubleclicking on it.
Unfortunately I found no menu or button in the main window which offers
"Erase unused space for...
I want to use/run Heidi Eraser from an USB stick on multiple computers.
For that I need a portable version of Heidi Eraser.
Is there such a version ?
i did not found a download link for this.
I am missing an option which let me run Heidi Eraser with LOW priority.
Whenever I run Eraser for a large file (>500MB) or directory tree then it consumes a lot of CPU load.
This in turn affects other running programs.
Can I somehow lower the priority ?
Other programs offer an option...
Maybe this is Win2000+SP4 specific.
Maybe this is because my main, default language (of the OS) is english
and cyrillic only second.
If you drop me your/an eMail I will send you a screenshot
of Eraser Report window and a (small) uneraseable example file
As I had to notice there seems to be NO support for
cyrillic/russian/unicode chars in file/foldernames.
Or do I have to enable an option for this ?
Otherwise is it planned to include unicode support in the next release of Eraser ?
Is it really advisable to run an "Unerase free space" over night?
As I had to notice Eraser take a lot of resource even if I run it to delete a (big) directory tree.
Why is it not possible to include a background-low-priority erase option?
When I perform an "erase unused space" operation with Eraser
then this operation consumes a lot of CPU power (~90%)
over a long period of time (~30 minutes on a 100 GB hard disc)
Furthermore it blocks the whole Windows Explorer.
I would appreciate if I could run Eraser as background task...
During the "erase unused space" operation 50-100 folders
with names like
~ERAFEWD.003A
are created (and finally at the end removed again).
For what purpose are these folders ?
I cannot imagine something what should bestored in these folders.
Eraser should ERASE not CREATE
After performing an operation "erase unused space" Eraser told me some failures and list some files whose filenames contain cyrillic/russian
characters inside.
What does that mean?
Does that mean:
- I, Eraser, tried to treat them as unused space but could not wipe them
or
- I...
When I want to erase the unused space of an external USB harddisc
this operation cost 20-30 hours. Is there an option which allows me
to abort an erase operation after a couple of hours and to restart it
(e.g. a day later) at the last known position/offset?
Moreover when I apply an...
